Anyway, this is just an update to make Henna update her own blog. And also just to test if anyone even reads this anymore (if no one reads it, no point in updating it, right?)
SO, if you do actually read this, leave a comment. Any kind of a comment. Even just a blank space. Anything. Just leave your name so I know who you are. That way I can tell if I should keep updating this and actually end up posting reflections, pt.2 in here.

Reflections, pt. 1
So, this day marks my second to last day in Canada. I thought I'd reflect back on the things that've happened while I've been here (at least the ones I remember, which, if you know me at all, you know might be kinda hard for me).
Back in November I was having really mixed feelings about the trip. On the other hand I wanted nothing more than to come here and work and see the world, but then again I was really sad to leave all my friends behind for five months. I felt like I was leaving things open and some quite important questions unaswered, and I was really stressing about it for the first couple of weeks here. Those questions were soon aswered though, and that plus the fact that I was getting used to Canada by then helped me get oriented and I really started to enjoy my time here.
December was pretty hectic, work-wise. Everything was new to me. I had to learn the ropes of how the business works in here, how to deal with clients, how to take an existing design and redo it almost completely while still having the same kind of atmosphere as the original one had etc.. I was learning a lot, and I was loving it. I didn't have much free time to do my own stuff, except in early December when my supervisor was absent from work since he had a baby girl on my first day at the office. I'd like to think I brought such a positive vibe to BC that the baby just wanted to plop out of her mothers womb and get into the Micka-Groove that was sweeping across the province.
December was also pretty hectic in a way that I was acting as a councelor of sorts to some people back home who had a little rough times. It took a lot of effort to keep up with all the stuff that was happening all around the globe, but I managed to both do my job and hopefully be of some assistance to my friends.
During Christmas time, we got a new housemate in the house, Lars/Jens (later on he turned out to be Lars). Here's a quote from the Micka of Christmast Past:
I'm glad I didn't judge him too soon. He turned out to be a real fountain of laughter, whether it be laughing with him or at him. We took a whole lot of long walks around the Van City area, the mountains, the beaches and the city. It was so romantic watching the city from the top of Cypress Hill, bathing in sun, looking almost like a jewel in...errr, sorry 'bout that. But man, I have to tell you, Lars reminds me of Olli WAY TOO MUCH. They look similar, they talk similarly, they both are sarcastic as fuck, they have a same kind of sense of humour, their beer drinking ways are the same.. Really creepy. It's like I can't get away from these people, they are everywhere. REALLY CREEPY.
The year ended / started with a letdown, after it became clear that Henna couldn't come here for her internship. I was really looking forward to spending a whole lot of time with her, but that wasn't the case. Luckily she came here later on though, but more on that later. In January I was somehow kinda down for some reason. I didn't know why then, and I don't know why now either. I just thought I'm missing out on everything that's happening in good ol' Kuopio, and was feeling really unconfortable and uncertain. After a few long messages to certain people, I regained my composure and went on with life, feeling a lot better. So thanks to whoever this concerns, you guys were priceless! Other than that, January was pretty uneventful. We went on a few hikes with Lars "I have a photogenic memory and I can just look at a map and go where ever I want ooooooops I have no idea where we are this is your fault why didn't you buy the map you arschloch!!" Malcher. Man, he's such a funny guy.. and as Dave once put it, "I'll never forget him, he's so weird."
February was THE month for me. Henna came to visit me, and oh man.. I was just loving every minute of it. Even though both she and Maick were ill at some point (well, Maick was sick pretty much the whole time Henna was here), we all had a great time hanging out and telling really bad jokes and some stuff that's better not to be repeated (psssst, the infected lady parts, remember??). During those two and a half weeks, we went to Cypress Hill, the Frasier Valley, downtown (or TaoTao, like old school Niko wisely called it), Stanley Park and other places. Oh, and we also saw this small hockey event with Henna, where the Canucks played the Tampa Bay Lightning. Also during that time, even though I'd noticed it way earlier (like say, in august/september), my realization of how awesome she really is got fortified immensly. I've really missed her since she went back home at the end of the month, and I just can't wait to see her again.
I'll write more tomorrow, since I have to start getting ready for my final pub night. It's gonna be my semi-official goodbye party, so I should probably take a shower and not smell, well, like Wiixy-Willy.

Lars (or Jens) is from Germany. Lars (or Jens) came here to our house, because he was kicked out from his previous homestay family. Lars (or Jens) sounds like a real treat to have here living with us! I won't judge him before I get to know him though, since that would be rude, and I am not rude.

TRANSFORMER PANCAKES!!
I had the coolest breakfast ever this morning - TRANSFORMERS PANCAKES! I guess they are what they claim to be, because they will transform into something way different than pancakes in a few hours... HAHA HAHA HAHA, I am so funny. Anyway, that was all I wanted to say.

Oh Sauna, Where Art Thou?
So, I was supposed to go to the gym and the sauna today with good ol' Dave, but he had already left before I got home from work, so I might as well tell you all about my day.
I went to work.
Okay bye!
Haha, the fat man made a funny! No, but seriously the day wasn't too exciting at the office, only a hell of a busy one. I was working (almost) the whole time, except a small tiny facebook chat break with Henna. Seriously, it only lasted for an, I don't know, an hour? I think that's feasible conduct, especially with my pay..
When I left the office, I was wondering what in the world is that distant noise.. it kind of reminded me of a thunderstorm, but I knew that wasn't it. It was something else.. something way more exciting and fun (although I must admit I kinda like looking at lighting). When I walked up the street, I began to feel somekind of pressure. I had a tingling in my spine and a feeling that something big was going down soon.
The noise drew closer with every step I took. Suddenly I realized that the noise was something I knew very well. It was a noise you could hear at a Metallica concert or after the Pope's speech or at AC Barca's home games (ok maybe not the last one). It was the thunderous sound of a huge crowd clapping and murmuring. I wondered what it was all about, until I saw it. This was an obstacle I had to overcome to make it to the bus in time. This was something I needed to do to get past my strange fear of little asian people. This was my Waterloo.
I stared them straight in their eyes and they stared right back. I was as ready as I was ever gonna be. Then I heard the announcer's bass filled voice:
Llllaaadueees and Gentlemen, you are about to witness a feat like nothing else! This brave young man from Finland is going to attempt something he might not survive! He is going to take part in..... CHINESE SLALOM!
I quickly assessed my situation. There were six people walking towards me. They were divided into three groups of two. Each group had a distance of about three meters to each other, and I saw they were approaching fast. They were approaching too fast! I had to make quick decisions in order to make it through this challenging course, made up entirely of those tiny little chinese people who I hear can eat your soul if you admire their thick, jet black hair too long.
I arrived to the first group, and dodged them from the left. While I was going past them, my terrorist threat level almost went to code brown when the lady of the group screamed something to, what I believe was her man, in chinese in a very loud voice (especially for a chinese girl that was a loud voice). Luckily I managed to keep myself from soiling, well, myself, and decided to proceed to the next group with a clean concience and underwear.
The next group I dodged from the right (after all, this was slalom). DAMN, that's all I have to say. The other one of those guys was the baddest of all bad asian badasses. He had a bald head and a black goatee, and he was dressed in a leather jacket and jeans. His eyes spelled T-R-A-N-Q-U-I-L-I-T-Y, which made it even cooler / more intimidating. The other guy was just some lame ass cellphone guy, very boring stuff.
As I regained my composure after the wave of coolness and badassness that had just hit me, I approached the last group of people. I don't know what it is with these chinamen today, but this group appeared to be fighting as well, as if they would soon have A MILL :O the other guy was pressing this other guy hard, and the guy # 2 didn't seem too thrilled with the situation at hand. I passed them too quickly though to see if things escalated, but I was hoping for the best. Whatever that was.
After the last group, there was only a little bit more to go, and that felt super easy after that gruelling range of emotions I had just went through! When I got to the bus, I was tired, but happy. Happy, until I noticed MY NEMESIS, THE CHINAMAN FROM A FEW MONTHS AGO!! Then I realized hey, I ride the same bus with him almost every day and it's not that bad, and fell into a cozy slumber.
If this all feels a little hard to understand, I decided to draw an illustration to show you all the tremendiously hardcore events that I went through today. So here you go.. but be warned, some of the stuff may shock you in ways you didn't know was even possible.

best.weekend.ever.
So a quick update, I got screwed out of my already agreed upon job at Enfo on friday, and my eagerly anticipated tattoo appointment got pushed back somewhere in the future from tomorrow. What an amazing weekend. Just like McD, I'm loving it!
I'm just happy that Henna is always up to making me laugh and feel better! I just might be able to keep myself from going insane after all.. :D
laters.

47 days to go, booyah!
Might as well update this bloody thing once in a while, eh? I still have about an hour and twenty minutes before Burn After Reading has finished downloading, so I had to figure out something useful to do. Commando is on on Spike though... Damnit. Compromising's a bitch. Oh well, gotta finish what I started.
Since the last blog, I've been better and worse. Worse in this case means that I was really sick for a week, and still am a bit congested. I'm never sick like that, I mean with a high, long lasting fever, so it felt even worse than it probably should have. The fever is long gone, but the constantly stuffy nose and heavy head is kinda driving me crazy.. but I guess everyone's gotta be sick at one point, unless you're one those people who never gets sick no matter what. See, that made sense, right? If you're a person who doesn't get sick, you don't have to be sick at any point. See?
I have to mention at this point that the local candy sucks ass really hard when compared to the one we have in Finland. I went to the nearby Safeway to pick up some snacks for the movie, and ended up with some salted peanuts and these weird sour candy that isn't sour at all. Actually, it tastes like nothing. The wrapping is really weird as well. In the back it has the flavours that the candy should have in english and in french (makes sense, we're in Canada after all). There are flavours like Peach/Péche, Cherry/Cerise, Plum/Prune and GRANNY/SMITH. What the hell? Is granny really a fruit of somekind, or did they pull a CloFu on Ol' Granny Smith? If you don't know what a CloFu is, google it. It's really quite funny, and grose at the same time.
Work's been really hectic lately. I have to update the Canadian Nando's Chicken website from a traditional HTML site to a 100% Flash one. I've never done anything that even closely resembles it, so I know it's gonna be a tough one to do in time. I'm learning a whole lot though, so it's not half bad. That though, plus the fact that I was away from work the whole of last week, messed up our plans to go to the States for a week and drive down the west coast. I was really looking forward to it, so it was a huuuuuge disappointment when I realized it's not gonna happen. It gave me a great excuse to come back here though :D always look on the bright side of things I suppose.
I'll be getting more ink on my forearm on the 22nd of this month (next Sunday)!! I went to the pre-tattoo session on thursday to talk about it, and I heard it's gonna be approximately an 8 hour job. That means it has to be done in two sittings, since the dude won't tattoo for more than 5 hours at a time. I'm really looking forward to it. I couldn't even fall asleep last night because I was visualizing the final image and I was just really stoked about it. After I did fell asleep, I saw the weirdest dream of these little snot nosed punks from a really small hillbilly town somewhere in northern savonia (Lapinlahti, maybe?) ganging up on me on a football game half time, and I had to fight them all off. When I looked up in the stands, I saw Niko clapping his hands, with a proud look on his face :D so thanks Niko for the support, I appreciate it!
What else.. I'm going to visit Maick and Wiixy tomorrow. I called her today and she sounded pretty happy that I wanted to come and visit her. I can't wait to see Wiixy again, he's just awesome! Hope it won't rain too hard tomorrow, so that he might actually want to go outside and to the dog park. I have a bunch of stuff I have to remember to do for Henna, so I'm also hoping for a miracle so I would actually remember to do all that :D
47 days to go until I go back home. Honestly, I can't wait for that day to come when I step back on Finnish soil. I've been missing everything and everyone pretty much the whole time, but now that I got a taste of home in the form of Henna, the missing just escaladed and I'm really ready to come back. Not that I haven't liked my time here, I've actually loved the city and (most of) the people, but nothing beats the folks back at home. OH, and I got my old job back at Enfo! It's probably not gonna be like it was like working hours-wise, but still it's better than nothing. I'm really glad that thing's sorted out, now all I have to worry about is my housing situation. Olli's gonna move in with his girlfriend in June or July, so I'm left with either finding a new roommate or preferably find a new place for me. It's gonna be a tedious task finding a decent appartment in a decent location, but luckily I have Henna to help me with the whole thing. She's even enjoying it, so maybe I should just step back and let her do her thing. I have faith in her. The force is strong with that one.
Blah, it's still an hour before the movie's ready. Shit.. Oh well, luckily Commando is still on. I'm just gonna grab my Granny candy and hop on the bed, ouyaahh.
Scriverò più presto! Maggio la forza è con voi! E hennè, se leggete questo, siete ancora il meglio.

Oh my god, you a woman?
I've been meaning to write an entry for a long time, but I haven't had the time / energy to do it. Now I do have the time, but the energy part is still lacking, since I'm currently enjoying the gift that Henna gave me before she left - a flu. I'm pretty sure it was Henna who gave it to me, since I wasn't close enough to Maick at any point for her to have the chance to give her disease to me. I was sleeping pretty tightly during the nights though.. *shudders*
As I mentioned, Henna went back to Finland last sunday. I knew I was going to miss her, but this much? I just want her back so badly it hurts. Or then again that might be my flu, who knows. Anyway I miss just spending time with her, whether it's going somewhere or watching a movie or just doing nothing special. It's weird, really. The fact that I'm sick and can't go to work or do pretty much anything doesn't help either, since now I have all the time in the world to think about how much it sucks that she had to go home already and how cool would it be to have her here as the ol' personal nurse. Woe is me. It's 8 more weeks until I get to see her and the rest of the gang, which doesn't sound so bad. After all, I started with 20 weeks.
I know I had something I wanted to write about, but I just can't seem to remember what it was. Hm. Aaaawwkwaaaarrrrdd. Aw crap. I really can't remember.
Anyway, I thought I'd list the pros and cons from the last two and a half weeks, so here goes, including, but not limited to..:
PROS:
+ Henna
+ Wiixy-Willy
+ Maick
+ Got to see a Canucks game with Henna
+ Roosters Country Cabaret ;)
+ All the ridicilous stuff that came up, which I had to say out loud REPEATEDLY
+ The fact that Henna showed me this side of her I hadn't seen before (burping into my ear etc. yummy :D)
+ Cypress Hill
+ Just hanging around with the girl I seem to have taken a shine to
CONS:
- Everybody being sick at one point
- Pitt Meadows, there was really nothing there (except of course McD and Roosters, and the nearby pub which name I can't recall)
- The fact that I had to work (makes sense though)
- The fact that it's now in the past
As I mentioned, Henna went back to Finland last sunday. I knew I was going to miss her, but this much? I just want her back so badly it hurts. Or then again that might be my flu, who knows. Anyway I miss just spending time with her, whether it's going somewhere or watching a movie or just doing nothing special. It's weird, really. The fact that I'm sick and can't go to work or do pretty much anything doesn't help either, since now I have all the time in the world to think about how much it sucks that she had to go home already and how cool would it be to have her here as the ol' personal nurse. A Tale of Wiixy-Willy
"It was a hard place to live back then", she started with a voice that was made unrecognizable and a face that was blackened out. She has an Asian accent though, how suprising. "And still is. It's a place where only the strongest survive. It's a place of hardships, but to fool the outsiders, they are coated in softness and fluffiness. It's Pillow Valley."
Hello, I'm Coy Ra, and this is The True Story Of Wiixy-Willy.
She knew what she was talking about. She had been there. She had seen the horror and the madness. She had been right in the eye of the hurricane.. she had stared right into the eyes of Wiixy-Willy. "If you would look up "menacing" in the dictionary, you would find the picture of Wiixy-Willy, chewing on the mayor's glasses. That's how crazy he is. For coming forward with this, I might end up on Willy's list.. please help me!"
Now this all may not seem so crazy to you, dear reader, but for the unsuspecting residents of Pillow Valley, the arrival of Wiixy-Willy some two years ago was the turning point of their lives. At first it wasn't too bad. Willy kept mainly to himself, and even managed to attract some interest from a young female. The interest quickly turned into something more, and the two of them started a hot and unprecedented love affair. An affair that would last for only few weeks.
On a one cold day disaster struck. Wiixy-Willy and his young bride were relaxing in the town square, a tradition they had been having every day for the last two days. Suddenly, at around 7pm, a great big giant came out of nowhere and came straight for the happy couple. The giant picked up the love of Willy's life, and Willy couldn't do anything but watch helplessly, since, you know, giants are like totally huge and all. As Willy weaped, the giant calmly walked away with the soft and warm lady he had learned to love. That lady was never to be seen again.
After that incident, Willy became distant and delusional. Soon after, some of the female residents of Pillow Valley started walking funny, like they had something big lodged deep inside their... soul. They would try to act normal, but everyone knew something was wrong. Something was very wrong. Something was very, very wrong. Something was ver..okay, you get the point.
Willy was seen as the victim of a terrible fate, so no one could believe even in their wildest dreams what was about to be revealed. The police chief was walking around the town square with his ohhotortsy one evening when he heard a faint scream coming from somewhere near him. He whipped out his billy club and tippytoed towards the noise. What he saw shocked him deeply. It was the city's official miss sweet pillow-next-door getting it on with Wiixy-Willy. Well, it was actually Wiixy-Willy who was getting it on with the city's official miss sweet pillow-next-door (repeating this is fun). The chief and his ohhotortsy didn't do anything to help the poor city's official miss sweet pillow-next-door, but they were transfixed by the sight instead. How can he go on for so many times? After a good while Willy left the scene, and left the onlookers puzzled by the act that they had just witnessed. That was kind of wrong, but hotdamndiggity, he sure could go!
To this day, Willy has not stopped his heinous acts, and the good and god fearing people of Pillow Valley still live in a veil of uncertainty and confusion. When will he strike next? Who will be his next choice? How does he trim his moustache? Can he teach the rest of the male population his wicked wiixy ways? This all remains to be seen. What is certain though is that Wiixy-Willy is surely a force to be reckoned with.
I'm Coy Ra, and this has been The True Story Of Wiixy-Willy. Until next time,

so-so-so-so... SOFT MUSIC played by Personal Cocks!
HAAAAHHHAHAAaahhHHAHHHAAHH AAAHHHHHAAHAHAHAHAAA AHHHHAAAAAHHHAHHAHAHAHAA.... aaahh.. haaaa.... AAAAAHHHAHAHAHHAHAHHHAHAAAA.
That's the sound I've been hearing (and producing) all weekend. I said in the last update that a) I'd forgotten how infectious Henna's laughter is and b) Maick is the kind of person that I can just talk to about anything eventhough I don't even know her properly. Well.. I was right about a), and I was a little too right about the b) *shudders*.
On Friday after work I went to Pitt Meadows after a quick stop in North Van, where I picked up some stuff and wrote a note that I'd be gone for the weekend. I went to downtown and hopped on the skytrain that would take me to a stop where Maick and Henna would pick me up. Friday night really brings out the best of the best of the cream of Vancouver, and I witnessed a rapbattle between two nerdy looking whiteboys that lasted for almost 30mins, and a really, REALLY creepy old Asian woman who sat beside me and sang some old japanese (?) hymn or something equally scary.
When I got to the real station (Maick had a slightly different idea of the actual station names than the city officials, so I made a wrong turn and first ended up at the final stop, and had to backtrack for a few stations), the girls showed up and were already going nuts. This was going to be interesting. Before we got to Maick's place we had to go to a gas station since Maick had forgotten to do that earlier. Too bad she had remembered to pay though :D Who does that?
"Humm humm here I am, just doing my thang, inserting cash to the machine..like that! Okay, now I'm ready to go, I'll let someone else worry about the tank filling part."
Well, now that I look back at everything, that doesn't surprise me one bit.
Other than that, Friday night was pretty calm. I don't even remember anything specific about it, so I'm not gonna bore you with "Ouhhyaaah, we watched the weather channel.. the rain looked INTENSE man!" Oh wait, one thing did happen. The thing seemed rather small at the moment it happened, but it was probably the spark that ignited the events that happened on Saturday. A fish (either Coy-Ra or Ou-Yah) jumped up from the aquarium and made a splash.
That splash made Henna laugh her trademark shouting laughter (wow, that sounds really retarded in english. Not the laughter, but the name of the laugh. Henna doesn't laugh differently in english. This sentence is just filler text.), and it was a pretty damn funny way to end the friday night. On Saturday morning, the same laughter continued. It continued, and escalated in the process. By the time we were having breakfast at 10am, it was a full-blown storm of laughing madness. Maick was laughing. I was laughing. Henna was definately laughing. It was a total chaos I tells ya. In the next seven hours we didn't have a break.. it was almost a full working day in the laughing factory. The quality of the jokes/tales/whatever we laughed about was not the greatest (not by a long shot :D), but they seemed like the funniest things ever at the time. And now that I think about it, they still do :D
In the process of the seven hours I heard stuff about monks throwing their balls to a tree to scare away animals (wtf), stories about Maicks wild youth days in London (smoking wacky tobaccy with arabian boyfriends with long hoses, wtf x 2), a tale about losing self confidence because of a clothes peg stuck in Maick's brand spanking new boyfriends brand spanking new leather jacket etc. This is all kind of "you had to be there to find it funny"-type of stuff, but the real bombshell is something that when you hear it, you will hopefully feel a bit sorry for me and Henna. I mean we were there when that little blurb came out, and we were eating. EATING.
We'd gone to a mall in Coquin.. Conq.. Coqiut.. well, a mall in somewhere, but because of the state we were in, we couldn't do much shopping. We were hungry, so we grabbed burgers (or I did since she doesn't like burgers.. weirdo.), and chatted until Maick came to the table. Almost the first thing she said after sitting down was something like "We are all friends here now, we can talk to each other like friends do, we don't have to have secrets." Now, this, coming from the mouth of a sweet looking 60+ year old didn't seem too alarming. Hell, how bad could it be, right? I thought nothing of it, and continued with my burger.
"I'm going to the doctors on monday."
Still no alarms.
"I'm taking these pills for.."
Okay, I think I don't want to know what she's taking the pills for.
"..an infection in my ladyparts."
..
I don't know if I should've shared this with the world like this, but I don't think any of you will ever see or meet Maick (and see, I'm protecting her identity by not using her real name. Clever, eh?), so this isn't too personal, PLUS this little thing that was probably intended for just a little sidenote shattered the remaining small pieces of my innocence and made my soul a rugged, torn down piece of.. well, the material souls are made of.
In my dreams I can see an infected piece of ladyparts howling at the moon. The silhouette of it creeps me out. I run and I run until I hit a soft wall. When I regain my consciouness, I realize that the wall is a piece of that infected.... EUGH! I really understood the term "too much information" for the first time of my life.
When the reality sunk in and we realized what has just been said, we exploded in a mixture of laughter, misbelief and disgust. We couldn't stop laughing, and the whole place turned to look at us. I was burning red and just laughed my ass off from the shockwave of the "no secrets" policy that was just been set into effect. I just couldn't believe what I'd just heard. Maick was laughing as well, but it was probably because of we were laughing so hard. I don't even know if she realized we aren't (or at least I'm not, I can't speak for Henna) that used to talking about stuff like that with practically total strangers :D
whoa. I'm glad I got that off my chest.
When we got back home, a little powernap helped calm the mood a little, but the going got tougher when the nightfall came. We witnessed a brutal rape (sixteen times nonetheless!!) of a sweet and innocent pillow-next-door by the Wicked WiixyWilly, or Coirra. After we were done laughing our asses off to that, we went our to the local pub (which is conveniently located right next to a church and a liquor store). We couldn't stay there for long, since the pub closed at one (!!), but that time we spent there was long enough to witness a real bonafide redneck live band. The lead singer had a wicked mullet and the bass player looked like the evil twin of Pate Mustajaervi. Ouyaah. That was a great day, topped with a little "canadanhirwi"-session at the end :D good times. That day tickled me in a way that if someone tickled me in that way, I'd say, Ouyaaah ... that's nice ... that's the spot.
Sunday was almost as restless as Saturday was, but I won't be writing too much about that, since it seems that everything I try to translate into english doesn't make any sense at all. I also should be working now, but I promised Niko a quick update :D If anything, my abs probably became a lot like those of Antero, the Hercules of Northern Savonia. I will also live to be a 114. After two more weeks of this, the 200-year mark should be a piece of cake.

NO TITLE HERE, GO AWAY
Long time no nothing, eh? Well, like I said in the very first post, my interest in these kinds of things fades away really fast. Actually, the interest is still there, but the writing seems like such hard work that I've just been ducking it for the past few days. Not that there's been something blog-worthy happening :D
Yesterday changed it all though. Hen-nuh rolled into town, which is pretty damn cool. Badass even.
Hen-nuh's aunt, Maija/Maikki had been in contact with me for a week or so, and we had agreed that she would pick me up at 6.30 from North Van, and we would drive to the airport with plenty of time to spare. Well, sure enough she came to North Van a little early even, and after a kinda awkward start (speaking english -> finglish -> "Aa sina puhut suomea!" -> finnish), we got along great. By the way, this was the first time I really spoke finnish for more than three sentences since my arrival here, and boy was it weird at first.. all the intonations were all wrong and I must've sounded like a dousche from the countryside trying to be a Yanar from the great big capital.. but that went away (I think), and currently I sound kinda normal :D
Now, Maija has been living in Canada for over 30 years, and so I had a pretty firm belief that she would know how to navigate us through the city to the airport without any problems. As I've come to learn, things aren't usually as easy as they are made out to be here in Van.. and so after about an hour and a half of driving in circles in both the North Shore and Downtown, we finally got on the right bridge and made it to the airport with about 40 minutes to spare.
We had a cup of coffee and just talked about everything that came up, subjects ranging from religion to travelling to german dudes with long hair putting apples under their shirts to get a ride in Spain (the driver who picked that guy up must've been so dissappointed..). She is one of those persons that I can talk with almost like I've known her forever, even though this was the first time we met. She must've picked up a bit of that famous Canadian courtesy along the way!
As the time drew thin and Hen-nuh's plane was about to land, the bubbling I had had for the past week or so really started to escalade, and I almost threw up because I was so nervous/excited/happy/whatever. It just felt so great to see her on the monitor that showed everyone who were about to come to the arrivals lobby, dragging this suitcase that was almost bigger than her, and then to give her a big ol' bearhug (she didn't tap out :l ).. haha, that was awesome.
Soon after we got on the road heading back to Pitt Meadows where Maija lives, she decided to continue her "I don't really mind where I'm going, I'm just so happy Hen-nuh is finally here"-driving, and we found ourselves in the middle of nowhere, where there were "Seattle, xx miles" signs etc (by the way, what a retard sounding sentence, "nowhere where there where".. say it quickly ten times in a row. C'mon, say it!). We were totally lost, and had a blast about it :D I'd almost forgotten how infectious Hen-nuh's laughter is. After our small roadtrip that lasted for a little over two hours I think and included four "let's ask for directions" stops, we got to Pitt Meadows at around midnight. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Maija decided for everyones behalf that I'd be spending the next two and a half weeks at her place! Oh well, I'm not complaining :D

I just got a total block. Um.. yeah I'm gonna continue with this enchanting tale later on, since on top of everything I have to look like I'm working. I bet the FF2 and YouTube that are showing in the background are helping me with this illusion.. oh well.

I just got a total block. Um.. yeah I'm gonna continue with this enchanting tale later on, since on top of everything I have to look like I'm working. I bet the FF2 and YouTube that are showing in the background are helping me with this illusion.. oh well.

You tend to prefer short-term pleasures and rewards over long-term consequences. You lead a leisurely and relaxed life. You would prefer to sit back and smell the roses than indulge in high energy activities. You prefer dealing with either people or things rather than ideas. You regard intellectual exercises as a waste of your time. You naturally assume that most people are fair, honest, and have good intentions, however there are times when you believe that a certain amount of deception in social relationships is necessary, however you are mostly candid, frank and sincere. People find it moderately easy to relate to you. Mostly you work towards achieving your best, although in some areas you are content just to get the job done. |

I'm trying to constrain myself and keep my excitement under control. It's just so freaking hard WHEN I HAVE TICKETS TO AN EVENING WITH KEVIN SMITH!! Whoooah, I'm glad to get that off my chest. I'm really stoked about it, I can't even describe the feeling. I'm really sorry for Niko though, since this man is like a god to him, when to me he's "just" a jesus, or jesus' big brother. That's funny because it's blasphemous. We did make a pact though with Niko, that we're going to see Mr. Smith live in the next couple of years together, no matter what the cost! ASFAFADSG I can't wait for March 27th to arrive.
There's a quite funny story about how these tickets came to be. I saw an ad for the show last monday, and immediately wanted to go. I was prepared to go and wait in line come saturday morning, but last night I realized that Dave works at Wal-Mart, which is at the same mall as a Ticketmaster outlet. I put 2 and 2 together, and asked Dave if he could go and pick up the tickets for me, so I could concentrate on working on my thesis. Dave said that it would be his pleasure (he's a great guy :D). I almost couldn't sleep last night, I was just thinking about the tickets. Those sexy tickets were them of solid gold, shining as diamonds, dancing around in their underwear.. Today I just waited for Dave to come home from work, and when he did, I ran downstairs like a little boy when he's heard the homey melody of the Ice Cream-truck. When I got downstairs, the terrified look on Dave's face told me all I needed to know. The "Oh my god I forgot, I totally failed you!" just fortified the shock. I DIDN'T GET THE TICKETS, I KNEW IT, IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! I ran back upstairs, weeping like the same boy who had just dropped his strawberry ice cream to the ground without getting a single lick in, and jumped on my bed crying my eyes out. Well.. not really, but I did go back upstairs and went to check online if they still had tickets. They did, what a relief.
Now all I needed was a credit card.. hmm. Just like that Dave came bursting into the room, and while looking over his shoulder, whispered to me "Do you have a credit card?". I truthfully answered that no, I did not own such a luxurious piece of plastic currency. He ran back downstairs and came back up, still looking over his shoulder. He handed me a shiny new green Visa-card, and told me to use it, but not to tell Brenda. He's such a great guy, shame he has to put up with Brenda's crap day in and day out. Anyway, I placed the order and NOW I HAVE A TICKET TO THE SHOW YAY!
I still have the card here besides me.. anyone want some plane tickets? Expensive clothing? Free money?

This one is probably going to be short, since I don't have anything much to say really, I just wanted to write something since it's been so long since my last update.
First off, thanks Katrin for your nice words :D You're awesome as well! What you forgot to mention is that I'm also very handsome, at least that's what my mom says. That's why it has to be true, because she has no reason to lie to me about that. Or does she.. :O *dun-dun-duuunnn*
Also I wanna thank the Über Supreme High Master Teacher Of Teachers Riippis, or as you would say it in english, Riippis, for giving me such a great push in the right direction concerning my upcoming thesis project. For those of you that don't know about it already, I'm going to do my thesis on baby website designing. That means that all you hot single moms out there in Blogland, please get in contact with me as soon as possible. I need you for, erm.. science?
Speaking about hot single moms, we're going on a little hiking trip with Lars tomorrow. This time he told me he's actually going to buy the map this time. That made me kinda sad, since if I can't believe in Lars' "photographic memory" when it comes to maps (or karts, as he likes to call them), what can I believe in this world? I should mention though that the trip isn't a 100% sure yet, because "it might be a bit foggy tomorrow and then it doesn't make sense to go up there because if I want to go up there I want to take pictures and it doesnt make any sense to go up there if I can't take any pictures because if it's foggy it doesn't make any sense." He makes a compelling point.
Ms. Antic Eye (nen) is coming here on the 12th of next month :O cool beans. I should make up some kind of a game plan of stuff that we can do, like what to see and where to shop etc. If I don't come up with something, I guess I could send her on a little walk with our good ol' german friend. I'm really happy that she's coming though, it's gonna be awesome to see a familiar face for the first time in two months! And yeah yeah, it's even better when it's that specific face.
Before I end this, I have to mention this alarming fact that I noticed today on my midday stroll - I'm gradually starting to become a Canadian. I was walking down the main road in North Van, just minding my own beeswacks, when I just suddenly turned to an old lady who was waiting for a bus and exclaimed "It's a bit chilly, eh!" Eh? EH??!! The random act of social networking was canadian enough without having to put that damned EH at the end of the sentence. Ach. I'll probably start 'rassling with moose and eating hockey pucks for breakfast come next week.
I'll blog back later eh!

A Weekend in Johnny's Blog
Tundra, that is.
Brenda and Dave went away for the weekend to visit her mom in Calgary. They left on thursday morning, and came back on sunday evening, so that left us four days of "hell yeah, we can do whatever we want!!". That was of course until we saw the Addition 4a to the Sacred House Rules - about 20 new rules what we can and cannot do (mostly cannot do). There were rules that made sense - no parties (dang), feed the cats etc. There were also rules that made a little less sense, like no using the living room couches and chairs. Erm.. yeah. I know that face you're pulling right now, that's exactly the one I had when I read the sheet of rules. That's the face of held back laughter mixed with utter disgust and shame. That lady is ill in all the wrong places.
The new holy commandments also said that we were not to use the furnace or touch the thermostat, since they didn't want us to burn down the house (again, makes sense), and she said that she had set the temperature to an average. Of course by the time I got home in thursday afternoon, I soon realized that that was not the case. The house was like an iglu, except it wasn't decorated as well as its icy counterparts. The other housemates came home (i like to use the phrase 'housemate', makes me feel like were on Big Brother) and felt the same wall of cold air immediately. We pondered about what to do, and decided to whip out the two small heaters that Dave had said we can use as long as we don't tell Brenda. He's a real man's man, Dave is.
The heaters didn't do pretty much anything, so we went to sleep feeling cold and shitty. The situation didn't improve until they got home, so I won't bore you by telling how cold it was on friday, and it was still cold on saturday, and sunday morning was a bit chilly as well. But what do you know, I just did bore you by telling how cold it was on friday, and it was still cold on saturday, and sunday morning was a bit chilly as well. Shit, I'm in a loop!
I did nothing special on friday and saturday, except pulled an allnighter, almost. I would say it was a 75% allnighter, since I went to sleep at around 5.30, after a few hours of rigorous chatting with Henna (who is by the way coming here in less than a month :OMG). I was feeling the effects on saturday, so I just hung around the house and went walking in North Van. I couldn't take any pictures though, since we've been having thick fog for the last week. It looks kinda cool though, very Silent Hill-ish.
Yesterday when I was eating my nutritious breakfast, Lars came downstairs and suggested that we'd go to West Van where he had been the previous day. He said that we could get awesome pictures from the top of Cypress Mountain. That sounded pretty cool, so I agreed to tag along. The thing that sounded the most appealing was the fact that we were supposed to get close to the mountain top with a bus, and would have to walk only a little bit to get access to the awesome scenic view. Lars was bragging about how he has a photogenic memory when it comes to maps, and that he only has to take a quick glance at a map and he'll find his way. Great, this was going to be a piece of the ol' cake. I didn't even wanna look at the map myself.. he's German, he knows what he's doing. He'll find the shortest way to the top, they are an efficient bunch.
...
=D
After about three hours of walking through West Van and up these super steep hills I got bored of the "it should be here.. oh, no exit. Well then it has to be in here!", I asked this little old lady for help. Her reaction was pretty priceless. "Oh dear boys, you are waaaaay off! It's about ten miles west from here!" Right after this, Lars took off and started speedwalking down the hill. He's funny like that - if something doesn't go the way he's planned it, he starts pouting and probably has a huge war inside his head.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid..!! Oh scheisse, I have let myself, my ancestors and my country down! Lars, how could you do this to us?! LAAAAAARRSSSS!!!"
Of course he blamed me for the incident, saying that I was supposed to know we were going to the wrong direction. He's such a funny guy, even though he doesn't probably even know it himself. That reminds me though, we were chatting with Bianca and Lars on thursday evening about the situation with Brenda and the coldness and whatever, and they started bickering over something. In the end Bianca told us that she can't believe Brenda would be mean to me since I'm such a nice guy, but that she would understand if Brenda didn't like Lars since he's so ironic. Well duh, he's german. Of course he's ironic! Lars countered by saying that he likes Dave, and of course me since I'm always such a good friend (which I try to be, he's a nice guy and fun to hang around with, or walk around with for that matter..), but that he pretty much hates Brenda and now isn't sure about Bianca either. Oh the drama, the excitement! The good thing was that I was a good guy in everyone's books, so I won't be voted off at least this week.
I don't know why I keep making those Big Brother references, I don't even like the show.
I got my tattoo touch up today, Billy spiced up the red colour. We discussed about the new tattoo, and he said that he could do it on the 7th of February, or at least the majority of it. The website I'm doing him for looks okay already, I need to spice up the graphics a little bit add the content in there as well. I'm gonna send him some pictures today, and see what he comes up with.. the idea is to have an arctic loon (or kuikka for you finnish fans) on my forearm, which is just about to fly out of the water, with his wings spread out. The background will be a picture of Kallavesi, like with some islands with spruce and a nice orange sunset. It's gonna look wicked once its done.

A grose out contest!
Today I had a green pea go from my plate to my mouth, up my nose, back on my plate and again in my mouth and stomach. Almost choking on food is called 'pulling a Henna' by the way.
I guess I shouldn't think at the same time I'm eating, bad things happen!

VICTORY IS MINE!!! BWAHAHAH!
WOO WOO! All the tiredness I had is now gone, and I feel like a totally new man. I still respond to the name Miika though. I also answer to Artemis, Agent Buckwald and Snake. Yes, I rather like Snake. Snake Kuikka.. (don't blame me, Family Guy is on all the time in here!).
This weekend has been a pretty good one, eventhough nothing much has happened. It could've started a bit better though. I got off from work on friday a little after five, and walked to my bus stop, which is a few blocks away. I didn't wanna miss the bus, since I had made an "msn-date" with Henna, who again was pulling off another allnighter. I speedwalked to my bus, which came to the stop right on time (I have to mention at this point, I've been so lucky with buses in the last week or so. It's like they are waiting for me behind the corner and when they see I arrive to the stop, they pull up instantly). I got on, went to the back seat and got a little shuteye. After a few minutes I realized that we hadn't moved at all. After about ten minutes, people started getting off the bus to find other means of transportation, since it seemed that our lane was totally stuck. I got curious at this point, and decided to stay on the bus, eventhough I could've walked to the seabus, which was about a kilometer away. After a while there were only two people on the bus besides me, if I don't count the driver.
Now, at this point the situation became a battle of wills. Who would last the longest without cracking and getting off the bus. I looked around and assessed my competition. The other one was a piece of cake - a middle aged woman, who looked stressed and sweaty. I was sure she would be the first one to leave the forsaken hellhole that's known as the bus number 240. The other one was the one I was worried about. He was lean, he was mean, he was a chinese "I will outlast you anyday"-kinda machine. He sat one row in front of me, and on the other side of the aisle. This was gonna be a tough battle. A battle of honor. A battle of character, and of dignity. I had to beat this chinese man, I just had to. I wiped the few pearls of sweat off of my forehead, and kicked in the high gear - I whipped out my iPod and paused the Flyleaf song. This was gonna need something way more intense.
Hello you're goin down
Hello you're goin down
Who is this
It's me motherfucker
You're goin down
They say all good things
Come to those who wait
Oh it was on. It was so on. After 45 minutes of waiting, we got moving. That joy was a little premature though, since we stopped again after maybe 250 meters. That was just enough for us to get to another bus stop, and the lady got off the bus. Some other folks came in, but this battle wasn't for them. They were not ready for it. This one was now one on one. Mano a mano. With shifty eyes I drilled a hole to the back of this man's head. I tried to get in there to intimidate him, but he wouldn't budge. He was almost as cool as the Zen Master Niko himself, I thought. That's when it hit me.. I would try to channel all of the Zen Master's strengths and teachings to overcome my evergrowing anxiety and restlessness. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. This was it. This was my ticket to victory. He didn't stand a chance anymore. He was going down.
I felt so peaceful..so powerful. I had managed to plug into the chakras that were flowing from the House of the Thousand Empty Milk Cartons. We had been waiting in the bus for nearly 1 hour 45 minutes, when we finally got moving. The bus was now pretty full, but I could still see my opposition, being as calm as ever. He acted almost as if he didn't know about the competition. I knew that was one of his many tricks that he tried to use to make me feel overconfident and to get me off my game. Hah, keep thinking that buddy. The bus drove forward. People got off. People got in. The chinese man sat there like a rock. Like a rock that had stood proudly through thousands of years. Like a rock ready to be broken.
I was beginning to get nervous when we got close to my stop. The man sat there like he wasn't in a hurry to go anywhere, like he could sit there forever. I was almost ready to give up, when finally he broke. There were four stops to go before I had to get off the bus, when my worthy competitior pulled on the stop handle, and rushed off the bus! Victory was mine! I had been able to elude all of my fears and doubts, and now I stood tall on the top of the Mount Victory! I got off from the bus, feeling like I could take on the world. With the newfound enthusiasm, I ended up staying up until five in the morning chatting with Henna, a feat unheard of before. Next morning was of course a slap in the face, when I went down to have breakfast at 2pm to an exlamation from Brenda "You JUST got up??!"
It was all worth it.
Yesterday I went to see The Wrestler, which was dubbed as "the resurrection of Mickey Rourke". That it was. Eventhough I have major problems looking at his Botox-filled face, he was really, really good in that film, and it was one of the best films I've seen in a while. Also it doesn't hurt to have the *drool* awesome Marisa Tomei show off her goods many times during the film. Today I'm gonna go to shoot some pictures from the Lionsgate Bridge since it's a nice day outside, finally. It's been pouring rain for the last few days, so it's a nice change to have a little sunshine every once in a while.
All in all I feel great right now, life is sweet. I'm gonna blog back

SHIT AM I TIRED. I don't know what's causing this or why, all I know I keep almost falling asleep at work, at home, at the bus, in the washroom, while I'm sleeping.. It's been like this for the last few days. No worries tho, I bought a biiiiig pack of vitamin-C tablets. That'll keep me energized. I hope.
I should start writing my thesis and that's also bugging me, since my topic isn't a 100% clear. I'm almost getting a headache just by thinking about the workload I got ahead of me. The cherry on top of my cake is I feel insecure about certain things I can't really influence while I'm in here. The girl, the team, the training.. a great big shadow of confuseness and uncertainty surround so many things I'm gonna have to soon invent a great big Confuseness and Uncertaiy Shadow Vacuum Clensing Apparatus.
On a scale of 0-1, how politically correct it is to say "See you later!" to a blind guy?
That's what I thought :( I was at Starbucks this morning, getting my usual morning fix, and there was a blind man in front of me. He ordered his coffee, and so did I. I left the shop first, so I held the door for him as he came outside with his dog. Our conversation was something like this:
Blind Man: Oh, thanks a lot!
Me: No problem.
Blind Man: Bye!
Me: See you later!
Immediately after my last comment a huge stamp appeared from nowhere and printed a bright red mark on my face that said "ASS!" while a deep voice that sounded like it came from the greatest depths of hell accompanied it with a similar message. Luckily at least one of my readers can relate, eh Mr. Homemade Abortion Device? Thinking before speaking is highly overrated.
I'm gonna end this crappy angstfest before it gets outta hand, and go eat some pills.

A kick-off to the new year..
Ho ho ho! I hope you all are doing fine in the magical Blogland, where all your dreams can come true and you can eat pudding the whole day!
I'm gonna start by telling you a tale.
There once was a battling hedgehog called Mii.. err, Barry. One day he decided that he would venture out from his familiar backyard and went across the street, where the grass seemed to be a little greener.
Barry soon found himself a nice new hole, that he would call home. There were a few other hedgehogs in the house as well, all who Barry thought were nice. All except one. You see, there was a Queen Hedgehog in the hole, who had everyone under her paw. Even the King Hedgehog was afraid of the Queen. The Queen, Glenda, was really small in size, but what she lacked in that area, she made up in temperament and craziness.
Barry thought Glenda was a well-meaning hedgehog, but some of the things she did kind of offended Barry. Barry had a job (don't ask me what hedgehogs do for a living, I have no idea!), and everyday Glenda would pack some hedgehog food with him. She would pack them in a small bag, which she expected Barry to bring straight back to her.
One day Barry forgot to bring the little bag back to Glenda, and instead left it in his little backpack that he used to carry around with him. When Barry was out that night, Glenda had gone through Barry's little backpack and had taken the food baggie out of there. When Barry got home, he was surprised and a little shocked, but thought that it was no big deal.
The living hole had many rules that Barry and the rest of the hedgehogs needed to follow. One of the rules was that every Friday, Glenda would take all the dirty hedgehog clothes from everyone and wash them. All the hedgehogs needed to bring their dirty little hedgehog clothes to Glenda, so that she could wash them. Barry forgot this one Friday morning, and went to work. His surprise was huge when he came back home, and found his laundry washed and cleaned in his room. It was a surprise because Barry kept his laundry basket inside a closed closet, in which he had a bunch of his other personal stuff as well. That means that Glenda had gone through his closet and all his personal hedgehog stuff, again.
Now, Barry has two choices. Either Barry does nothing about it, or then he tells a contact hedgehog called Houtan that Glenda keeps doing this. The latter choice can be risky, because that can result in Barry having to find another hole to live in, and that hole can be even worse.
What should Barry The Battling Hedgehog do?
Now, we had a cool new years eve. We went out to a japanese restaurant, and I ate sushi for the first time! The good thing about this was that the sushi was pretty good. The bad thing about it was it was so expensive I might as well could have flown to Japan and eat there.
After that we went looking for a bar we could go into. Every place had an entrance fee, which I really didn't mind since I had to pee so badly, I could've payed a 100 bucks just to use the bathroom. We finally got to Malones (only 10 bucks!), and had a good time there. I was with Pia and his boyfriend, Roger. I got a really tempting offer from this middle aged woman to come to San Diego and live with her and her husband for as long as I wanted. I had to pass, since I had to catch the last seabus :(
I've done nothing interesting in the last couple of days. Work has been the same ol', same ol', and I haven't had the energy to do anything else. I'm going to see Benjamin Button today though, unless Lars tricks me into doing some walking in the slush.
I'm so gullible.
