BYE BYE WORLD CUP 2010 :(((((((((((((((
Anyway, this is just an update to make Henna update her own blog. And also just to test if anyone even reads this anymore (if no one reads it, no point in updating it, right?)
SO, if you do actually read this, leave a comment. Any kind of a comment. Even just a blank space. Anything. Just leave your name so I know who you are. That way I can tell if I should keep updating this and actually end up posting reflections, pt.2 in here.

Reflections, pt. 1
So, this day marks my second to last day in Canada. I thought I'd reflect back on the things that've happened while I've been here (at least the ones I remember, which, if you know me at all, you know might be kinda hard for me).
Back in November I was having really mixed feelings about the trip. On the other hand I wanted nothing more than to come here and work and see the world, but then again I was really sad to leave all my friends behind for five months. I felt like I was leaving things open and some quite important questions unaswered, and I was really stressing about it for the first couple of weeks here. Those questions were soon aswered though, and that plus the fact that I was getting used to Canada by then helped me get oriented and I really started to enjoy my time here.
December was pretty hectic, work-wise. Everything was new to me. I had to learn the ropes of how the business works in here, how to deal with clients, how to take an existing design and redo it almost completely while still having the same kind of atmosphere as the original one had etc.. I was learning a lot, and I was loving it. I didn't have much free time to do my own stuff, except in early December when my supervisor was absent from work since he had a baby girl on my first day at the office. I'd like to think I brought such a positive vibe to BC that the baby just wanted to plop out of her mothers womb and get into the Micka-Groove that was sweeping across the province.
December was also pretty hectic in a way that I was acting as a councelor of sorts to some people back home who had a little rough times. It took a lot of effort to keep up with all the stuff that was happening all around the globe, but I managed to both do my job and hopefully be of some assistance to my friends.
During Christmas time, we got a new housemate in the house, Lars/Jens (later on he turned out to be Lars). Here's a quote from the Micka of Christmast Past:
I'm glad I didn't judge him too soon. He turned out to be a real fountain of laughter, whether it be laughing with him or at him. We took a whole lot of long walks around the Van City area, the mountains, the beaches and the city. It was so romantic watching the city from the top of Cypress Hill, bathing in sun, looking almost like a jewel in...errr, sorry 'bout that. But man, I have to tell you, Lars reminds me of Olli WAY TOO MUCH. They look similar, they talk similarly, they both are sarcastic as fuck, they have a same kind of sense of humour, their beer drinking ways are the same.. Really creepy. It's like I can't get away from these people, they are everywhere. REALLY CREEPY.
The year ended / started with a letdown, after it became clear that Henna couldn't come here for her internship. I was really looking forward to spending a whole lot of time with her, but that wasn't the case. Luckily she came here later on though, but more on that later. In January I was somehow kinda down for some reason. I didn't know why then, and I don't know why now either. I just thought I'm missing out on everything that's happening in good ol' Kuopio, and was feeling really unconfortable and uncertain. After a few long messages to certain people, I regained my composure and went on with life, feeling a lot better. So thanks to whoever this concerns, you guys were priceless! Other than that, January was pretty uneventful. We went on a few hikes with Lars "I have a photogenic memory and I can just look at a map and go where ever I want ooooooops I have no idea where we are this is your fault why didn't you buy the map you arschloch!!" Malcher. Man, he's such a funny guy.. and as Dave once put it, "I'll never forget him, he's so weird."
February was THE month for me. Henna came to visit me, and oh man.. I was just loving every minute of it. Even though both she and Maick were ill at some point (well, Maick was sick pretty much the whole time Henna was here), we all had a great time hanging out and telling really bad jokes and some stuff that's better not to be repeated (psssst, the infected lady parts, remember??). During those two and a half weeks, we went to Cypress Hill, the Frasier Valley, downtown (or TaoTao, like old school Niko wisely called it), Stanley Park and other places. Oh, and we also saw this small hockey event with Henna, where the Canucks played the Tampa Bay Lightning. Also during that time, even though I'd noticed it way earlier (like say, in august/september), my realization of how awesome she really is got fortified immensly. I've really missed her since she went back home at the end of the month, and I just can't wait to see her again.
I'll write more tomorrow, since I have to start getting ready for my final pub night. It's gonna be my semi-official goodbye party, so I should probably take a shower and not smell, well, like Wiixy-Willy.

Lars (or Jens) is from Germany. Lars (or Jens) came here to our house, because he was kicked out from his previous homestay family. Lars (or Jens) sounds like a real treat to have here living with us! I won't judge him before I get to know him though, since that would be rude, and I am not rude.

TRANSFORMER PANCAKES!!
I had the coolest breakfast ever this morning - TRANSFORMERS PANCAKES! I guess they are what they claim to be, because they will transform into something way different than pancakes in a few hours... HAHA HAHA HAHA, I am so funny. Anyway, that was all I wanted to say.
7 days.

Oh Sauna, Where Art Thou?
So, I was supposed to go to the gym and the sauna today with good ol' Dave, but he had already left before I got home from work, so I might as well tell you all about my day.
I went to work.
Okay bye!
Haha, the fat man made a funny! No, but seriously the day wasn't too exciting at the office, only a hell of a busy one. I was working (almost) the whole time, except a small tiny facebook chat break with Henna. Seriously, it only lasted for an, I don't know, an hour? I think that's feasible conduct, especially with my pay..
When I left the office, I was wondering what in the world is that distant noise.. it kind of reminded me of a thunderstorm, but I knew that wasn't it. It was something else.. something way more exciting and fun (although I must admit I kinda like looking at lighting). When I walked up the street, I began to feel somekind of pressure. I had a tingling in my spine and a feeling that something big was going down soon.
The noise drew closer with every step I took. Suddenly I realized that the noise was something I knew very well. It was a noise you could hear at a Metallica concert or after the Pope's speech or at AC Barca's home games (ok maybe not the last one). It was the thunderous sound of a huge crowd clapping and murmuring. I wondered what it was all about, until I saw it. This was an obstacle I had to overcome to make it to the bus in time. This was something I needed to do to get past my strange fear of little asian people. This was my Waterloo.
I stared them straight in their eyes and they stared right back. I was as ready as I was ever gonna be. Then I heard the announcer's bass filled voice:
Llllaaadueees and Gentlemen, you are about to witness a feat like nothing else! This brave young man from Finland is going to attempt something he might not survive! He is going to take part in..... CHINESE SLALOM!
I quickly assessed my situation. There were six people walking towards me. They were divided into three groups of two. Each group had a distance of about three meters to each other, and I saw they were approaching fast. They were approaching too fast! I had to make quick decisions in order to make it through this challenging course, made up entirely of those tiny little chinese people who I hear can eat your soul if you admire their thick, jet black hair too long.
I arrived to the first group, and dodged them from the left. While I was going past them, my terrorist threat level almost went to code brown when the lady of the group screamed something to, what I believe was her man, in chinese in a very loud voice (especially for a chinese girl that was a loud voice). Luckily I managed to keep myself from soiling, well, myself, and decided to proceed to the next group with a clean concience and underwear.
The next group I dodged from the right (after all, this was slalom). DAMN, that's all I have to say. The other one of those guys was the baddest of all bad asian badasses. He had a bald head and a black goatee, and he was dressed in a leather jacket and jeans. His eyes spelled T-R-A-N-Q-U-I-L-I-T-Y, which made it even cooler / more intimidating. The other guy was just some lame ass cellphone guy, very boring stuff.
As I regained my composure after the wave of coolness and badassness that had just hit me, I approached the last group of people. I don't know what it is with these chinamen today, but this group appeared to be fighting as well, as if they would soon have A MILL :O the other guy was pressing this other guy hard, and the guy # 2 didn't seem too thrilled with the situation at hand. I passed them too quickly though to see if things escalated, but I was hoping for the best. Whatever that was.
After the last group, there was only a little bit more to go, and that felt super easy after that gruelling range of emotions I had just went through! When I got to the bus, I was tired, but happy. Happy, until I noticed MY NEMESIS, THE CHINAMAN FROM A FEW MONTHS AGO!! Then I realized hey, I ride the same bus with him almost every day and it's not that bad, and fell into a cozy slumber.
If this all feels a little hard to understand, I decided to draw an illustration to show you all the tremendiously hardcore events that I went through today. So here you go.. but be warned, some of the stuff may shock you in ways you didn't know was even possible.
